Stapleton's album is the kind that only comes along every so often -- it's a timeless classic, and that's the reason it's selling so well. It won the CMA Award for Best Album, the ACM Award for Best Album, and the Grammy Award for Best Country Album -- a clean sweep. Chris has been out-selling all the other country artists by a 6:1 ratio. For example, Chris sold 59,000 on the current albums chart, and the #2 country album only sold about 10,000. Stapleton's album has sold well over 1 million copies (which is really hard to do these days) and it shows no signs of slowing down.

But I do expect several other albums to debut at #1 in the coming weeks. There weren't very many albums released from January through March, so that's part of the reason as to why Stapleton has been able to stay at #1 for 17 weeks. I do think Chris will get one more week at #1, but then I expect Sturgill Simpson to be #1 for a week or two, and starting in May the release schedule gets pretty busy. Keith Urban and Cole Swindell on May 6, Jennifer Nettles on May 13, Blake Shelton on May 20, Dierks Bentley on May 27, Maren Morris on June 3, Frankie Ballard and Brandy Clark on June 10, Jon Pardi on June 17, and Kenny Chesney on July 8. Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line will be releasing new albums this summer, too.

Traveller is one of the best albums we've seen in years, so I'd love for it to stay #1 as long as possible. There's a reason it won the CMA, ACM, and Grammy Awards for Best Country Album. It's full of incredible country songs, sung by a guy with a stunning voice.

As I said in my previous post in this thread, though, look for several #1 debuts in the coming weeks. Stapleton will be #1 again on the chart dated April 30th, but then I think we'll see Sturgill Simpson at the top, possibly followed by Martina McBride. And then there will be big albums released every Friday during May and June.

Barely a second week at #1 for Ripcord.  Keith Urban was able to get another 32,000 sold last week.  In second place was Jennifer Nettles' second solo album, Playing With Fire.  31,000 copies of her album was sold.  Talk about a photo finish!
