This is a decent follow up to "Don't Ya" the breakthrough single for Brett. As I was listening to it I got Phil Vasser vibes with the melody. There are even a few spots where he sorta sounds like Phil. I'm thinking this will do well for him.

I'm pretty disappointed in Brett's album. He used a lot of producers but not much of it seems to 'fit' together sonically. This song is ok and might perform decently, but I can't see it being a huge hit. "One Mississippi" and "Signs" are both great songs, but they are the only 2 songs (besides "Raymond") from Brett's original album (which was scrapped after "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" didn't catch on) that remained on Bring You Back. And what I'm worried about is that most of the songs from the original project were better than the ones that made the revamped album, at least in my opinion...so, in other words, I don't really like the change of direction that Brett took with his sound.
"Signs" seems like a smash hit to me and I thought it was an obvious radio single but word around the row is that Warner Music Nashville isn't planning on releasing it because it was recorded too long ago and no longer sounds 'fresh' (and I personally think that's a load of rubbish...it's better than most songs on radio these days). They may eventually take a risk with "One Mississippi" (a gorgeous ballad) but I have my doubts, especially since I'm guessing that BOTM will miss the top 20, and then they won't want to take a risk with a slow, somber ballad. I just have a hunch that BOTM will get 'lost in the shuffle'.
