Jake's song seems to be struggling. Lead singles usually set the tone for a record and I hope this isn't bad news for Jake down the line. He really broke through on his last CD and would hate for him to lose momentum. Personally this song is just kinda there for me, so I am not too surprised it isn't doing better.

Yeah, this one definitely hit a brick wall this past week. Still, on the current Billboard chart it had a gain of more than 2 million, and that was for the tracking week of October 28-November 3. This song is still pretty young, too. I think the main idea here was to get a sizable hit that doesn't sound like anything else out there. I'm confident that, even though this won't make #1, Jake's album will open strongly based off the success that he had with the Barefoot Blue Jean Night album. I'm not really too good at predicting album sales, but I could see Jake's new album bowing with anywhere from 60-80k sold, and I think that's a pretty good start. Everything I've heard about it sounds encouraging. Basically, it doesn't sound like it will be a BBJN Part II, and I think that's a good thing. Jake also made a recent comment in which he said there were some well-written songs on the album, and he specifically sought for some of those 'deeper' songs because he (like myself) feels that those songs have mostly been missing from country music and country radio for a good while now.
