This one is doing very well with radio airplay, but doesn't seem to be selling as well as the other songs in that area of the chart. I wonder if this will hinder it as it gets into the Top 10. I know that the airplay chart doesn't take sales into account, but I am sure it influences it.

This is one of my least-favorite Darius tunes, but perhaps that's because it's following on the heels of the colossally-successful and excellent "Wagon Wheel". Still, I'm not sure I'd ever be a big fan of "Radio" because it strikes me as a song in which the songwriters deliberately set out to 'kiss up' to radio. Darius releasing this, a song called "Radio" that's all about how awesome radio is, makes it seem as if he's desperate to keep getting as much airplay as possible on country radio.
But, if that's the case, it's hard to blame him. "Wagon Wheel", to me, was the outlier...Darius' more 'adult' songs like "I Got Nothin'" and "True Believers" weren't catching on like his earlier hits, and he still wants to sell a lot of albums, so he's giving radio what they want with "Radio". This isn't a knock on Darius, but I firmly believe any other mainstream artist could've turned "Wagon Wheel" into just as big of a hit if he/she/they had decided to cover it and release it as a single instead.
