This has become Tim's 50th top 10 on Billboard, but it's definitely among his worst tunes. I was really disappointed that they chose this as a single. Obviously it's paying off (and I figured it would be a hit), but it's just disappointing, as it's one of only 2 tracks that I dislike on the album, with the other being "Truck Yeah". So for me they're only 2/4 for single choices, and it's disappointing because all the other songs are much better.
If they wanted something uptempo and kinda funny, I would've loved "Mexicoma". The title track seemed like an obvious choice so I'm surprised they passed that one up, but maybe it will be the 5th single. Still, that would leave songs like "Book Of John", "Number 37405", and "Nashville Without You" as album gems since I doubt they can release them all. Maybe they'll go 6 singles deep, but that's still not enough room to release all the highlight tracks, so I'm just frustrated that "Truck Yeah" and "Southern Girl" took up two of the single slots. TY was a polarizing hit, but it still sold pretty well. This one is selling well and will probably be his 3rd straight #1, but I think much of that has to do with him being on Big Machine now instead of Curb.

Looks like Tim will be adding to his #1 collection with this tune tomorrow. I can't say I love this, but it's a whole lot better than "Truck Yeah".

Looks like Tim will be adding to his #1 collection with this tune tomorrow. I can't say I love this, but it's a whole lot better than "Truck Yeah". Tim got to #1 on Mediabase, but it looks like he's going to be held to a a #2 peak on Billboard, blocked by Blake's "Mine Would Be You". Speculation has it that Tim will come back with a brand new song in early 2014, because he has supposedly recorded quite a few new songs already. I haven't researched into any of those claims, though. But I wouldn't be surprised if they opt for a 5th single from Two Lanes Of Freedom, either. They still have seemingly endless options--the title track, "Nashville Without You", "Book Of John", "Mexicoma", and "Number 37405" would all likely be top 10 hits if released. I really enjoy the album, but it's disappointing to me that the only 2 tracks I dislike ("Truck Yeah" and "Southern Girl") took up two of the single spots over better and much more deserving choices, at least in my opinion. Big Machine/Tim are only 2/4 so far, and since I like so many of the remaining songs, I'd like for them to go 3/5 before moving on to a new album, but I wouldn't be surprised either way (if they release a 5th single or move on to a new project).
