This is one of my favorites from the CD and happy and a bit surprised to see it was finally released. After having some slow weeks (for a Miranda single) this seems to be having a better week on Mediabase. I hope the trend continues.

This is one of my favorites from the CD and happy and a bit surprised to see it was finally released. After having some slow weeks (for a Miranda single) this seems to be having a better week on Mediabase. I hope the trend continues. It seemed to me that they weren't going to release a 5th single from Four The Record, so I was surprised when they sent this out. During the latter part of the chart run for "Mama's Broken Heart", RCA had made a genuine attempt to push the Pistol Annies' "Hush Hush" to radio instead. Well, that song didn't exactly catch on, but of more interest, perhaps, is the fact that the Annies cancelled all their tour dates (Miranda did them solo) and never really explained why. Ashley Monroe was performing as a solo artist and also with Train, and Miranda was doing her thing, but they all seemingly quit talking and their Facebook and Twitter pages have been very, very quiet. I point this out because it seemed as if there was a gap 1-2 weeks longer than normal from the time when "Mama's Broken Heart" AND "Hush Hush" were both off the chart, to when they decided to release "All Kinds Of Kinds". There was also very little fanfare surrounding this release, so I have a hunch it wasn't in the initial plans...but with the way things unfolded, they decided to go with it. The 'era' has already been a big success, especially with "Over You" and "Mama's Broken Heart", so my guess is that they figured they could afford a riskier selection for the 5th single. With that said, I actually don't think this will do all that much and here's why: Billboard is reporting that Keith Urban's next single will be his duet with Miranda, and so I think RCA probably just put AKOK out there to see how well it would do (knowing it probably wouldn't get that high--callout scores aren't good either), and then the Keith/Miranda duet would fill in the rest of the gap until Miranda comes back with a lead single from her 5th album. Because if the duet is indeed Keith's next single, RCA has obviously known about that decision for a while--Capitol wouldn't be able to release that song unless RCA agreed to it, so I'm guessing this situation has been in the works for a month already, maybe two. I guess there's no way to prove it, but that's my theory. I suppose it's entirely possible that AKOK could keep climbing even with the Keith duet out there at the same time, but I have a hunch this will fizzle out--especially if the duet blows right past it on the charts, and I do expect that to happen. I'm guessing AKOK will be Miranda's first single to miss the top 10 since "Only Prettier" (another polarizing song, if I remember correctly from call-out surveys back then) stopped at #12 back in December 2010. And I actually wouldn't be terribly surprised if AKOK falls short of the top 20, even.

Jhomes you make some very good points, but I hope you are wrong with your prediction of where this song will stop. I agree that it could prove difficult with the Keith Urban duet out and that the duet will likely pass this very quickly. Still I hope they continue to push this. It would be quite an achievement for a female (in today's radio climate not playing many females) to have two songs in the Top 10 or even Top 20 at the same time.
