I am a little surprised this single hasn't raced up the chart like some of their previous songs. In my opinion it is one of their better efforts. Of course what I like and what songs top the chart are usually vastly different. Still this seems to be a bump in the road for them. It hasn't been a big seller either. I realize everything an artist releases can't go number 1 and they have had some of their singles not do well in the past, but those were weaker songs in my opinion. Wonder if this will even manage to go Top 10?

I am a little surprised this single hasn't raced up the chart like some of their previous songs. In my opinion it is one of their better efforts. Of course what I like and what songs top the chart are usually vastly different. Still this seems to be a bump in the road for them. It hasn't been a big seller either. I realize everything an artist releases can't go number 1 and they have had some of their singles not do well in the past, but those were weaker songs in my opinion. Wonder if this will even manage to go Top 10? I've been pretty baffled by this one's struggles over the last few months as well. I thought from the start that this was one of their best singles and would be an easy #1 but as it stands now, their top 10 chances aren't even very good. Their sales (both singles and album) are down sharply from the Own The Night era, and that album was of course a big drop-off from Need You Now. The sales for Golden have still been solid, and "Downtown" was quite the hit, but I'm quite surprised that their momentum seems to be waning already on single #2. I think they've got plenty of options yet, so hopefully they still put out another 2 singles or so. I'm sure that both Lady A and Capitol will stick with this album for some time yet, since Hillary is a new mom and then they'll be touring during the last couple months of the year and throughout much of the winter and spring. That wouldn't leave them with much time to start working on a new project. I'm a little alarmed at the increasing amount of 'tempo' and party songs currently on country radio. Sure, it's summertime, but it's almost as if any song that was a ballad got 'punished' by programmers this summer. The Kenny song is struggling mightily too. That one's not selling well either, but both Lady A and Kenny are testing well with listeners, and so I would caution PD's to not pay too much attention to sales numbers, as it's impossible to figure out whether the consumers are actually the same people that are listening to your radio station. And right now, of course, the party/'frat boy' country songs are very popular--just look at how Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line are doing. I surely hope that the radio playlists become a bit broader in the near future, because right now they seem quite narrow, at least from a topical and sound standpoint. But maybe Lady A does need a song with some more tempo next. I think "Better Off (Now That You're Gone)" would make for a great radio single, but a big power ballad like "All For Love" could work as well, as that one was a really popular seller when the album first came out, which likely indicates strong support from their core fanbase.

This song appears to have reached the end of its run. A bit disappointed, but it should help clear up the chart a little. Kenny Chesney, also appears to be finished. Wonder what Lady A will release next?
