Good to have a new single from Billy, but after my first listen it isn't that interesting. I looked up Billy's chart history and it has been 10 years since he released his first single, so he isn't the new kid on the block anymore and there seems to be a lot of newer male artists, along with the veterans competing for those limited AirPlay spots. His last 2 singles also didn't do as well, although I really liked "Love Done Gone" and thought it should at least have gone Top 5. The song is written by talented and successful songwriters and seems to be the sort of generic song that radio seems to play, so maybe the thinking here is to get another big hit regardless of the quality. I do think Billy is still capable of producing some more number 1's, but don't care for the direction he is headed with this single.

This song is only just "ok" to me as well, but I am glad that Billy has gotten another big hit. HG is up to #2 but it looks like that may be as high as he goes. I suppose it's possible that this song gets one more spurt this week, but it looks to me like it's running out of steam, while both Tyler Farr and Thomas Rhett seem to have more momentum. I'm thinking Billy's peak will indeed stand at #2, but you never know.
I got the album and it's really pretty good...HG does make sense as the lead single, yet there are songs that would've made even more sense, notably the title track "We Are Tonight". That's reportedly the next single but it would've been the perfect summer 2013 tune. Still, no matter when it hits radio, that one will be a big hit and if HG doesn't hit #1, I feel confident that WAT will. In fact, I think it will be Billy's biggest hit since "People Are Crazy".
"One Way Ticket" has a really great traditional and throwback sound to it and I just love the lyrics on that one. Brett Eldredge originally had that one recorded for his debut album, but that album was largely scrapped in favor of the album that DID come out (featuring "Don't Ya"). I was so glad when I saw that another artist (and one more widely-know than Brett) had cut OWT and Billy's version is even better than Brett's was. "Wingman" is a cool jazzy song, and "23 Degrees And South" is a really strong ballad. I have no doubt that Billy should be able to score 1 or 2 more bigger hits from the album, and I think the next couple of singles could each be bigger than HG. But nevertheless, "Hey Girl" has done its job and I'm just glad Billy is back and doing well on the airwaves.

I won't be terribly disappointed if this misses the Top spot. I like Billy, but this song is just weak in my opinion. There seems to be a bunch of songs with all around the same audience numbers (Billy, Tyler, Thomas, and Luke). Everybody is not going to make it to #1 and I agree that Billy is looking like he might miss out this time around. I haven't heard anything else off the album yet, but am looking forward to a better single next.

Out of all the songs contending for #1, the only one I really like is Jason's. I can't stand the ones by Tyler Farr, Thomas Rhett, and Luke Bryan. "Hey Girl" isn't great but it's ok for me. Billy is still in the race for the Billboard #1 but Columbia Nashville has made a huge push for Tyler Farr, and he surged to #1 on Mediabase today. The Billboard race still looks too close to call but as it stands right now, I think Billy is on the outside looking in, just barely behind where both Aldean and Farr are projecting to.

Well Billy made to the top, but it was a close race. Tyler missed out getting his first Billboard #1, but had a good run with his breakout hit. I wonder if Billy will try for a second week? That may be hard to do with Thomas Rhett within striking distance and still time to make his move. Not to mention Thomas' label being notorious for their last minute pushes.
