So yes I'll give it a go. Hope jhomes doesn't get mad Kip moves 4 up to #29 from last week's #33 gaining a full 1.32 million in the process. Brad, Casey and Chris Cagle went recurrent from up above, accounting for 3 of those 4 spots gained. The last spot is taken from Kelly Clarkson's Don't Rush, which just isn't gaining much, so Kip breezed past her easily. Now, looking at next week's chart, both Jason Aldean+friends and Gary Allan will be gone from the top 10, meaning Kip will at least move up to #27 even if he can't pass anyone. He doesn't have to worry about anyone coming up from behind: Jake Owen is more than half a million behind and is not posting big enough updates to overtake HPG, and the other song to keep an eye on is Highway Don't Care, but with still 2 mill to make up for. Just ahead of Kip it's Darius Rucker with Wagon Wheel → I think he'll stay ahead for now. A catchable one could be Jana Kramer, but I really doubt it: ten new adds this week and 1.3 mill ahead. However, Kip may be able to leave both Jana and Gloriana behind in a matter of a couple of weeks, and even Rascal Flatts if they keep slowing down. So #27 next week? Sounds decent...

Sorry I didn't get around to posting last night. My parents are in town visiting, and we didn't get back from the mall until rather late. It looks like we have a great update this morning from dajire4. Darius Rucker's late-week surge kept him ahead of Kip, but Kip still had a great +4 jump up to #29. I like forecast of a +2 this week. Gary Allan will definitely go recurrent, and I think Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan/Eric Church will as well. Now Kip's to the point where there's a bit of a gap between him and the songs ahead of him. He's 600k behind Darius and Darius' week has started off just as good as Kip's has so far, so it looks like Kip might stay behind him, at least for now. Jana, at #27, is almost 1.2 million ahead so it'll take a couple of weeks to catch her. But one quick look at the chart tells me that "Hey Pretty Girl" along with Darius' "Wagon Wheel" and Jake's "Anywhere With You" are all only 7 weeks old (that's how many weeks they've been on the chart). Jana Kramer has been on the chart for 17 weeks already, and the song above her--Gloriana's "Can't Shake You"--just wrapped it's 23rd week. So it's a logical assumption that Kip will indeed be tracking both of them down soon...just probably not this week, not quite yet. Rascal Flatts is almost 2 million ahead yet but they've really slowed down so Kip could wind up catching them as well at some point. I agree with dajire4 that there really aren't any threats from behind Kip. The Tim/Taylor/Keith song will definitely wind up going up ahead of Kip but that pass is a ways off yet, as "Highway Don't Care" isn't even officially at radio yet, which means it's not gonna post huge moves until it is officially sent out to radio...and that won't happen for another 1-3 weeks yet, since Tim's current single is still #2 (going on #1). There's new singles out now by Jason Aldean and the Zac Brown Band, and Brad's new one will be out soon too, but it'll be a long time before we have to worry about any of them. So the main 'competitors' right now look to be Darius (who's just ahead), Jake (who's just behind), and then Tim/Taylor/Keith in a few weeks.

#28 this week. Only Gary Allan went recurrent from the top 10 and all the songs above Kip stayed ahead. In fact, Darius Rucker actually broadened his lead over Kip, from 600k last week to 900k this week. Jana Kramer and Gloriana pretty much stayed as far ahead as last week, while Rascal Flatts saw a little bit of a recovery from last week's miminal gain.
Next week, Jason and friends will definitely be gone. Who else could leave? Taylor maybe; we just have to keep an eye on her as she should start falling this week after snagging the Mediabase #1 yesterday and getting to #3 on BB with a gain of almost 3 mill.
So I guess either #27 or 26 for the upcoming chart, the March 16th one

Kip did indeed finish last week at #28. I think I'll do an update like I've been doing in the George Strait sub-forum (and like we always do for KU's singles), and I'll try to do an update each Thursday from here on out, plus checking in either Monday night or sometime on Tuesday with the results of each chart (since charts don't come out 'til Monday evening).
Kip gained an even 1 million on Billboard last week. Here's how the 3/9 Billboard chart looked on Monday night:
Time to check in on how everyone is doing so far this week. The Henningsens are up a solid 1 million on Mediabase in the last 3 days, and that'll project to about a 1.4 million Billboard gain. So, they should jump a bit over the 9 million mark.
Rascal Flatts' chart runs are continuing to slow down. "Changed" is only up 420k in the last 3 days, so we shouldn't expect them to gain any more than 700k on Billboard. A 700k gain would bump RF up to about 8.2 million.
Gloriana and Jana Kramer's songs are the oldest of the bunch, though they still have plenty of life left in them. I think Kip will wind up passing them sooner or later...but not this week, not just yet. Gloriana is up 740k and that should project to about a 1 million gain on Billboard. We'll put them up to 8.4 million (and they pass RF!) Jana is up 800k so a 1.2 million BB gain looks to be in store, and we should look for her to check in around 8.2 million, giving RF some company.
Then there's Darius...his song has caught fire. He's up a whopping 2.2 million over the last 3 days, which indicates he'll probably be gaining 3 million or maybe more on Billboard. That would shoot "Wagon Wheel" up to 9.7 million or so...and it looks quite likely that Darius will pass the whole 'lot' of songs on the little chart slice above.
Now, Kip. He's up a solid 1 million over the last 3 days, which would maybe mean a Billboard gain of about 1.4 or 1.5 million. But Kip will be gaining countdown spins this weekend, so I think he'll probably gain about 1.6 million instead. That should put him up to about 7.3 million.
Finally, checking on Jake, as he finished last week less than 400k behind Kip. Jake's up 1.5 million in the last 3 days, but I know some of that gain is from Dial Global spins, which won't translate to Billboard. I'll say Jake gets to 7 million max, and stays behind Kip.
So, it doesn't look like Kip is quite ready to leap over that 'tier' of songs like Darius is about to, but he's getting closer..."Hey Pretty Girl" is a younger song and it's selling better on iTunes, so I have to imagine he'll be chasing down Jana, Gloriana, RF, and TH soon. Kip will gain at least 1 spot this week, with the Aldean/Bryan/Church song set to go recurrent from the top 10. It's too early to know for sure whether Taylor will also go recurrent and open up another spot for Kip, so we'll have to keep an eye on her in the next couple of days. Kip should jump up 1 spot to #27, maybe 2 spots to #26 but only if Taylor goes recurrent.
And in the next couple of weeks, we'll have to watch out in the rearview mirror for some new megastar tunes...Tim/Taylor/Keith's "Highway Don't Care", Aldean's "1994", Brad's "Beat This Summer", ZBB's "Jump Right In", and The Band Perry's "Done". They'll probably all go up ahead of Kip but Kip will balance it out by making some passes of his own. Kip's nowhere near superstar status yet so he won't get those 15-20 week climbs to #1 that guys like Keith, Jason, Kenny, Blake, and Luke (among others) get, but I wouldn't rule out a 25-27 week trek towards the top of the chart for HPG.

'Nowhere near superstar status' makes me feel so happy (selfishly) lol. It's the YET that sticks though..it's coming, and fast!!! Doesn't it normally take like 3-4 albums/years to build a solid career? He's achieved half of it already with 1 album and in 10 months...

Certainly not a surprise. He's coming off the momentum of a couple big hits. But now is where Kip is gonna have to buckle down. There are a lot of big new releases out right now so I suspect that those new songs (Aldean, TBP, Paisley, ZBB, etc) are probably gonna cause some of the newer artists to slow down a bit. It already looks like Kip is starting to slow down a little. He'll get passed by Jason this week, and then next week he'll have to keep his eye on The Band Perry. The Tim/Taylor duet will be coming soon too but it's not officially at radio yet. Once it is, you can bet that one will start really flying. Brad and the ZBB could be threats in a couple weeks too. It'll help if Kip can stay ahead of Jake Owen and Kelly Clarkson, and we'd really like to see him start tracking down the 4 artists ahead of him--Jana Kramer, The Henningsens, Rascal Flatts, and Gloriana. Kip's half a million behind Jana, 1.25 million behind The Henningsens, 1.4 million behind Rascal Flatts, and almost 2 million behind Gloriana. Those aren't huge gaps but with HPG slowing down a little bit, it'll take some time and some work (nice gains) to catch them. I think it's doable, but it won't happen overnight. Hopefully Kip will start to close those gaps a bit more this week.

Hey jhomes, can I bug you for something when you get a minute? You know how for Keith you look at the songs he's copyrighted for his next album or whatever? Is there any way you could do that for me for Kip? I know he's been recording and I know of about 5 songs he said he's finished with..so I'm just wondering what the other ones are! I have New York City, Unless Heavens Got A Dirt Road, Break My Heart, and Back Down South.

myeverythingku, I'll see what I can do this week -- I'm on vacation and haven't been on the computer much, and I do have a busy week ahead of me as well, but maybe I can check out ASCAP/BMI later this week...their can't be too many titles registered under Kip's name since he's relatively early in his career. You never know what he'll wind up actually recording for album #2. Most of those titles look interesting though.

Well, those are the ones that I know are confirmed on the album because he's said it himself! He also said recently (as in a couple days ago) that the video is out so we should be starting to see it very soon, Id imagine!
Don't stress about it jhomes, but if you get the chance I'd be very interested in seeing it!! Have fun on vacation! I have 3 Kip concerts ... 20th, 21st, and 24th, then Carrie & Hunter on the 26th, and then it's off to Vegas for the ACMs after that, so I have a very busy and FUN couple weeks coming up myself!! ENJOY!!
