Glad this became a single, but I can't help but think that they're releasing this too soon.
The majority of Own the Night sounds pretty poppy and almost uneventful to me, but they must be doing something right since it's almost double platinum.

Wow. This really came to a halt fast; I'm sure it'll pick back up and become some kind of a hit soon.

WYM is down 130k over the last 5 days... I think it will keep its bullet on Billboard, but it has the smallest bullet of any still-climbing song within the top 35 on Mediabase. They'll likely stick around the 8 million mark on Billboard, so look for them to slip back a couple of spots. Only Kelly Clarkson will be going recurrent from up ahead, but Rascal Flatts and Miranda Lambert should both pass Lady A, and Chris Young could also sneak ahead as well. Plus, Tim's "Truck Yeah" will be debuting with well over 8 million (likely around #24 for Tim). Add it all up (or subtract it, rather) and Lady A should fall back at least 2 spots (Tim, Miranda, and RF seem like surefire bets to move ahead, while Kelly will leave), but it could be a -3 for Lady A if Chris Young sneaks back ahead, too. Can you say "lowest-charting single of their career"? I don't think it's gonna be done anytime really soon, but with the way things are now, I'm starting to doubt that this one can even match the #11 peak of "Lookin' For A Good Time".

This is gonna wind up as the lowest-peaking song of their career to-date. It got up to #20 on the 9/15 Billboard chart, then slipped back to #21 this week, as Jerrod Niemann got ahead. For the 9/29 chart, Blake Shelton will be going recurrent and the ZBB's "The Wind" will drop below this, but I think Lady A will get passed by Greg Bates, Eric Church, and Justin Moore, to possibly wind up with another -1. I don't think they're gonna match their #20 peak or get any higher. This one is 18 weeks old, and I can see it getting its 20 weeks and then disappearing. A few months off from the radio will do them good.
This song isn't bad, but it's another string-swelled ballad and I just can't harldy distinguish their recent singles from one another anymore. Their most recent album was sorely lacking in tempo songs, and the ballads are too similar in both sound and theme, and I think that's caused led to a halt in commercial progress for the single and the album, which in turn has caused this song to stall on radio, as some of the newer artists and the "in" sounds get by.
I am very excited for their full-length Christmas album, though. I think it could be a big seller. And I think the group will bounce back with some big hits on their 4th album next year. I'd like to see them branch out a bit more topically and lay off on all the string-swelled ballads. And I'm hopeful that they'll do just that; Charles Kelley has mentioned in recent interviews that they're gonna take some risks and get back to the basics a bit, and singer/songwriter Will Hoge tweeted today that he's playing harmonica on a track for the album, so that sounds pretty promising.
